WRUP: Come On, Man, It's The '90s

Every week, simply at first of the weekend, we meet up with the WoW Insider workers and ask them, What are you playing this week? -- otherwise referred to as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're as much as in and out of sport, and catch us within the comments to let us know what you are enjoying, too! Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It's the '90s! Everyone's going to conventions today! Positive, it's in Southern California, and for many of you, that is a good distance from home. But man, this is the '90s. They have planes now. And some of those planes even have air telephones. You can hook up your 14.4k modem to one of those and hook up with your favourite Warcraft 2 BBS, perhaps play a little Legend of the Red Dragon from 20,000 feet. Why not? It is the '90s! What's that? You say it's not the '90s -- it's 2011? Effectively, of course it's! I know exactly what today is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and year on it. Everyone's acquired one -- everyone, that is, who's dwelling within the '90s. BlizzCon, the hottest event of the '90s, is coming up in a mere two weeks. So right now, along with the same old question of What are you enjoying? (Super Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our prime-notch writers (a lot of whom have Tripod pages) reply a bonus question: What terrific advice do you've gotten for the go-go BlizzCon attending folks of the '90s? Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend will probably be spent finishing my entry for the worldwide Writing Contest -- in different phrases, writing like a madwoman. As for BlizzCon -- make sure you might have plenty of water along, the convention corridor is greater than it seems to be! Show up for panels early, check the events schedule and determine what you want to hit prematurely. Additionally -- comfy footwear. Severely, you may be in your feet pretty much all day lengthy. Comfy sneakers are the perfect! Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) I'll be going to another wedding this weekend but will otherwise be on the PTR getting notes for an upcoming Shifting on tanking and healing the three new 5-mans. As for BlizzCon, I have but to go, but if I had to guess from past experiences with educational conferences and the like, have just one bit of recommendation: Don't put on heels. Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) ( Been enjoying some Dead Island and hopefully will get a hefty amount of co-op time in with a buddy of mine. Good coop games are way more uncommon than they must be. For BlizzCon, take more shirts than you think you will need. If you happen to get tremendous-sweaty, cease into your resort room and change shirts. It is higher than being smelly and uncomfortable all day. Chase Hasbrouck First WRUP /yay. Persevering with my feral soloing in challenge in WoW (when Kuwaiti latency permits), else playing SpaceChem on Steam. All the enjoyable of programming without the code! BlizzCon: by no means been, but expertise has taught me always to comply with the 3 W's when traveling: water, weight, and walking (comfortably). Daniel Desmond (@hazmacewillraid) I'll be doing a little bit bit of PTR spelunking, making an attempt out the new dungeons and paladin modifications, but mostly I will be scratching a number of extra tallies into my wall with a plastic spoon, counting the times until Skyrim releases. As for BlizzCon, this can be my first! As such, I'll be sticking to my guildmates like black leather-based seats on a scorching summer time day. Daniel Whitcomb (@DanielWhitcomb) Since my mage and warrior are on hold until the 4.3 goes live, I may see if I can solo me some extra tier 5 for my warlock. I'm additionally playing some Aquaria and Bastion (again) on Steam, so I could do some extra with those games. My recommendation? Hygiene. Specifically, double-, triple-, and quadruple-check your travel bag. When you miss something like a toothbrush or a shaving kit, likelihood is you are going to have to pay an arm and a leg to exchange it. Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) Not enjoying anything this weekend, but I'll be watching numerous StarCraft 2 and League of Legends at IPL3. Recommendation for BlizzCon? Hmm ... Ready in the badge pick-up line isn't needed if you do not should be the first one into opening ceremonies. Just decide up your badge while everyone seems to be in line for the ceremonies and you will be in and out in 5 minutes. Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I am nonetheless on my honeymoon in NYC, however after i get again I'll probably start AC: Brotherhood, since my AC2 disc is scratched and I do not suppose I can end. Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) ( I have been in Philly for a strong a part of the week, and I'll be staying in Philly all through the weekend hanging with my buddy Chester. All kinds of enjoyable might be had. Like right this moment, I ate Dutch food. We're a terribly boring individuals, we Dutch. My BlizzCon recommendation: If you want to hang out with Fox, I recommend you get your request in forward of time, as a result of there are lots of you, only a few nights in stunning Southern California, and just one Fox. Further, I counsel anyone who will not be from an area with Jack in the Box restaurants to go eat at a Jack within the Field restaurant. Oh my god. Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Extra LoL, I have a brand new champion to be taught! Also more alt leveling in WoW and really wanting ahead to a different choose my journey day Sunday; I'll probably start earlier (three p.m.) this week and go till 5. I am going to also be livestreaming the adventure, so be sure to look at Twitter for the hyperlink and time! Largest BlizzCon blunder: not sporting comfy and supportive shoes. Seriously, you stand and stroll a lot that you're a fool if you don't. Additionally, the quantity of ache your toes shall be in will be surprising. Also, drink / deliver numerous water and try to eat outdoors of the convention center. Tons of good local places to nom things at which are a quick walk from the convention middle. Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I am liking my army of premade and essential-transferred shaman on the PTR. I even have a lone mage premade who was set up with spec/glyphs/keybinds/and so forth. and then promptly forgotten. I haven't any BlizzCon advice, though I warning all Wow Insider meetup attendees to avoid eye contact with Fox. That's just widespread sense, though. (Wonderful level. That is how I select my prey. -- Fox) Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Hoping for some high quality time with my DS, but I'm undecided, as I will be working at my job, doing artwork, and it's Thanksgiving up right here in Canada-land, so there's that. I'll be heading out of city Sunday night to see my family. BlizzCon advice? Take the well being-test: Convey a lot of water with you. Put on comfy sneakers (with insoles if obligatory). Remember to stretch your lower again each hour or so! Bring some protein-rich snacks with you -- natural meals bars, dry-roasted nuts (like almonds and cashews). Con meals is overpriced and full of crap, and this will keep you fuller longer. /health nerd Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) ( I am a damaged file. Minecraft Skins of Legends and WoW. Suggestions for BlizzCon: convey a bottle of water if you possibly can, take things slow, wear comfortable footwear, and purchase Mat McCurley drinks on the WoW Insider Reader Meetup. Matt Low (@matticus) In a change of tempo, playing on my Nintendo DS. Replaying some Closing Fantasy VI! My faaaaaavourite Remaining Fantasy sequence -- ever! Matt Rossi (@matthewrossi) ( My hand is totally screwed up now, so dangerous I do not suppose I can play a lot of anything. (I'm typing this one-finger, hunt-and-peck type). As for BlizzCon, I've never been. Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Some Sword of the Stars with some buddies, for (probable) final recreation earlier than the sequel comes out. We'll send the previous girl off in model. I am going to also be getting some critical Minecraft time in since my guild's server was down last week. Need to make up for misplaced time! This will only be my second BlizzCon, however the largest factor I picked up final 12 months is to be really early to anything you want to go to -- panels or whatever. Aside from badge pickup on Thursday evening. It's open for hours and badges aren't limited in the identical manner seats or space is. No want to indicate up early for that line; go later that night and coast right via to pickup. Michael Grey (@writegray) I'll be taking pictures weddings by means of most of the marriage, which is directly exciting and terrifying. I'm not the professional of the team, so I except to spend loads of time going Hurrr ... The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some recreation time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Contemplating taking the leap into roleplaying? No matter your favourite option to play World of Warcraft, tell us within the feedback what you are playing this weekend!
